A delegation of 50 Hamiltonians were invited and warmly welcomed by the City of Shawinigan to celebrate its 100th Anniversary as a City. Highlights of the visit included a tree planting ceremony, a welcome picnic, official reception, tours of the city, and gift exchange. The delegates were billeted in homes, and many friendships were formed and continue to this day.
For some the visit was a time of reunion, of friendships which began during Hamilton’s sesquicentennial celebrations when approximately 100 citizens of Shawinigan were welcomed to Hamilton.
