Pulp and paper mill town north of Trois Rivières, on St. Maurice River, industrial, with a large hydro station. Also produces aluminum, abrasives, chemicals, cellulose and textiles. Mostly French-speaking. Prime Minister Jean Chrétien’s hometown. Population: 51904 people (2006)
